Patrick Marber's play is about love, the desire to own each other, and revenge, and shows it through the story of four people. It is the love rectangle of two men and two women, where fundamentally lonesome and interdependent people look for happiness and fulfillment in each other, trying to redeem their own lives through one another.

The plot takes place in London where the photographer, the stripper, the writer, and the doctor fatalistically meet. They keep cheating on each other, and they are cheated on, too. Love is vital to them, but only if they cannot get it. If it is at hand, it's not exciting anymore.

Történet

In London a taxi accidentally hits a girl, who introduces herself to the passenger of the taxi as Alice when he is taking her to the hospital. Dan, who wants to be a journalist and works for a newspaper's obituary column, is immediately mesmerized by the girl's straightforwardness and strong sexual aura. Alice has just arrived at home from New York where she was working as a stripper. Dan writes a novel based on the girl's story, and he does a photoshoot for publicity where he meets the older and less vulnerable Anna. Dan is unable to get Anna out of his head, so he starts writing in the photographer's name on a sex-chat page to Larry, the doctor, who is dumbstruck by the dirty-mouthed erotica that Dan beleaguers him with. Dan goes even further: he arranges a date with the doctor in Anna's name to an aquarium he knows is Anna's favorite place...
